My name is Kim Chu and I’m a fourth year Biological Sciences major and Asian American Studies minor. I’ve been a member of different campus organizations and communities, including the Student Outreach and Retention Center, Queer and Asian, Vietnamese Student Association, and the Southeast Asian Student Association. Being a part of these organizations throughout the years have helped me further develop an understanding of the community around me. I believe that to achieve diversity is to not only accept people of different backgrounds, but also to learn and empathize with their histories while being aware of the various privileges we possess or lack as a result of the institutionalized systems of power in place. I hope to incorporate these ideals as I learn more about healthcare for a variety of populations.
