Name: Itzel Garcia
Year: 5th
Major: Psychology, minor in Biology
Position: Class Manager
Biography:This is my first year in DIM, and I’m looking forward to working with a diverse group of students! Aside from DIM, I am also a Peer Health Educator. I have been involved with different campus organizations throughout my undergraduate career. In addition, I have worked for the Center For Educational Partnerships through the Early Academic Outreach Program for the past four years as a Student Coordinator. In my spare time I love to go hiking, spend quality time with family and friends, and eat hot Cheetos.
What diversity means to me: Diversity to me is having many different things of a particular something. Diversity in medicine, is being knowledgeable and understanding of the different backgrounds that exist other than your own, and how these backgrounds affect the person’s health and access to healthcare. I enjoyed being able to experience this through DIM and receive valuable information from the diverse guest speakers who work in the healthcare field.
