Biography: Due to my burning desire and passion in developing healthy lifestyles for the public, I have always had the aspiration to work in the medical field. I am striving towards dentistry as a result of my determination to shape the future of oral care and restore the oral health of patients. I am an Intern at a free dental clinic where I partake in transforming the lives of our patients. I am a peoples person and you can always find me at the ARC every morning. As ironic as it might sound, I have a serious weakness to ice cream.
What Diversity Means to Me: When I think of Diversity, I think of variety. As in a variety of different opinions, ideas and experiences come together to resolve the health problems of the world. Understanding the different viewpoints of situations creates the optimal learning experience for all. This course feeds the students all the different perspectives of certain problems, encouraging them to think on a deeper level.
What I Gained From The Class: Public Health 91 has completely changed the way I view healthcare. Listening to different healthcare professionals describe the disparities and stigma between their different patients opened my mind to the fundamentals of the healthcare system. This class presented me with the knowledge and basics for effective patient protocol which is a necessary component of a successful healthcare worker!
